48 Hours Off the Las Vegas Grid
Whew. I’m half-way back to “normal” – normal for me at least
Thursday night we had several stops we wanted to make. After playing some poker and earning a quick couple’a bucks, we headed for Tryst (at Wynn) where we met up with some friends and skirted a pretty crazy line at the door. (The door staff and hosts at Tryst always seem to be good about taking care of locals once you get to know them, in my experience.) Not only was CES winding down and AVN’s porn convention going on, it was also Tryst’s one year anniversary party. The crowd was incredible – what a gorgeously naughty group of people! Martinis were had by all and we had such a blast it was difficult for even the drunken frat boy types to piss us off when they knocked our drinks from our hands, making a mess, and didn’t even consider a simple apology. You can’t pick the crowds in Las Vegas, but there’s a good time to be had somewhere in the middle of the fray if you know what to look for. It was pretty difficult to get into a good groove on the dance floor because of the way the dance floor opens to the outside – it was cold as shit outside – too cold to dance on the dance floor, at least for me and my cohorts in crime. It was a good time though and definitely set the pace for the evening.
After a couple of hours we took the plunge, enlisted one of us who’d only had a drink or two to drive, and made our way to Empire. It was pretty slow at Empire that night compared to most weekends, but the bottle was free, so our table had probably 25 people at it – big shocker, eh? Several of the usual suspects had joined us there. After awhile we made our way to Seamless. Normally this would have been a nightcap, but, well, it wasn’t. We were partying at Seamless til probably 8:30am, at which time the girls and I decided we just weren’t quite ready to go home. Where else would we go if not the Spearmint Rhino? Oh yes, we did. We spent the rest of the morning and into the afternoon there, at which time Joanna, our new friend from the Rhino joined us, along with a friend who’d been at Tryst at the beginning of the night, gone home, slept, woke for the day, showered and dressed, and returned to join the madness… all of the remaining soldiers went home to my house for the after party… which ended at midnight on Friday evening. *blank stare*
Jesus I got tired just thinking about all of that as I wrote. Anyhow, that would explain my 48 hours off the grid in Las Vegas. I was still recuperating yesterday once I finally woke up so I totally missed Saturday night’s round of porn convention after parties. It’s funny how things unfold sometimes, but we had a blast
